The Bastion of the Black Prince in Gascony

Jean and Alix de Nadaillac are pleased to welcome you in the large private guest house they have fixed up with your comfort in mind so that your stay will be calm and restful while allowing you, at the same time, to discover Gascony in the best conditions possible: setting out from a historic site that was used as a military camp by Edouard de Woodstock, also known as The
Black Prince, in 1376.

This ancient bastion is located within the fortified walls of the castle of
Poudenas and was extended during the 16th century, and then remodeled to be used as a farm building. It has now been re-done with flair and enthusiasm
by Alix and Jean de Nadaillac.
 

 

The private entrance is directly through the gardens that were planted in
the 17th century with exotic trees: 350 square meters on two levels,
opening on the east to the castle's esplanade and on the old chapel that
has become the village church and on the west leading onto a large garden that
overlooks the village and is the location of your private swimming pool where you will be able to relax.

 
 

On the main floor various rooms are situated around the stone floor entrance hall
- a fully equipped kitchen separated from the dining room by a bar
- a small reading room open to the East by a large French window
- a large living room (75 square meters) with an oversize stone fireplace, a 4.6 meter ceiling made of oak, cedar, and poplar woods
- a guest powder room
 

Behind the kitchen there is a "machine room" at your disposal with a gas furnace, a water-heater, a washer and a dryer. There is a separate entrance door to this area which is very convenient when arriving with groceries for instance.

  

From the living room you have direct access to the master suite that includes a large bedroom with a queen-size bed, a study with a single bed, and a bathroom with a bathtub, a large shower, and a wc.

When you take the stairway leading up from the entry hall you arrive at a large landing area which can be used as a playroom for younger children and which opens onto three bedrooms, two of which have twin beds and a bathroom with sink, shower and wc. The third bedroom has a queen-size bed and a large bathroom with both tub and shower.
 

A mezzanine allows access to a suite located above the one downstairs and equipped in the same way.

Tariffs for 2008

Rental of a typical French countryside home in Poudenas with private swimming pool and garden for maximum 12 guests including:

- Kitchen-dining aera completely equipped with dishwasher, washer, dryer, stove, oven, microwave, exhaust fan, 2-door refrigerator,

appliances, plancha outside.

- Small reading room with TV and DVD.

- Large living room (75 sq meters) with fireplace (firewood furnished, one cubic meter per week) and cd player.

- Suite 1: queen size bed, bathroom with tub, shower, toilet, basin, and office with a single bed.

- Suite 2: queen size bed, bathroom with tub, shower, toilet, basin, and office with a single bed.

- Bedroom 3, twin beds, bathroom with shower, basin and toilet.

- Bedroom 4, twin beds, bathroom with shower, ,basin and toilet.

-Bedroom 5, small double bed, bathroom with tub, shower, bain and toilet.

- Sheets, towels and linen furnished.

- Dishwater detergent and cleaning products furnished.

- Private safe salt water swimming pool (5m x 11m), bath towels provided.
